The Clarity Signal: Say the Sentence

by Gina Dunn

You're brilliant at what you do. So why is it so hard to explain?

You know your work. You know the difference you make. You know there's something about how you do things that isn't quite like anyone else.

But ask you to explain what makes you different?

Oh, here we go again.

Suddenly you're giving a five-minute answer to a question that probably needed one sentence.

I wrote a book about that.

The Clarity Signal: Say the Sentence is for women founders who are tired of being almost understood.

Fifteen chapters of real stories, practical exercises and the thinking underneath a brand that finally sounds like YOU.

You're not bad at explaining what you do

You've probably explained your business hundreds of times.

You've written the About page. Updated your LinkedIn headline. Tweaked your elevator pitch. Maybe even paid someone to help you find the right words.

And somehow, the explanation still doesn't quite fit.

People understand what you offer, more or less. They might even tell you how impressive it sounds. But they're not quite getting the thing that makes your work yours.

So you keep polishing. Adding another sentence. Trying a different headline. Borrowing language from someone who seems to have figured it out.

And the more you explain, the further you get from what you actually wanted to say.

What if you don't need a better way to explain everything? What if you need to get clearer about the one thing that matters?

That's where The Clarity Signal begins.

Your brand needs your point of view

Somewhere along the way, a lot of founders learn to sound like what they think a successful business owner is supposed to sound like.

Professional. Polished. Credible. Appropriately impressive.

Nothing wrong with any of those. Except sometimes, while you're busy sounding like an expert, the actual expert behind the business starts disappearing.

Your opinions get softened. Your story gets tidied up. Your message gets broad enough to appeal to everybody.

Eventually, you end up with a brand that looks perfectly fine. It just doesn't sound much like you.

This book is about finding your way back to what you actually believe. The sentence that's been underneath your work all along. And giving yourself permission to say it.

What you'll find inside

Fifteen chapters to help you think differently about your work, your message and the brand you're building. No branding tricks. No promise that one magic sentence fixes everything overnight.

  • What you do versus what you believe. Your services tell people what they can buy. Your point of view tells them why they'd choose you.

  • Why being understood beats sounding impressive. You need an explanation that helps the right people recognize why your work is worth their attention.

  • What happens when your business outgrows its story. You're allowed to change. Your brand needs to tell the truth about who you've become.

  • How to stop borrowing everyone else's language. Especially now that AI can write a perfectly respectable paragraph about almost anything in seconds.

  • How to find the sentence you can stand behind. The one that makes the rest of your decisions easier, whether or not it gets the most likes.

Every chapter ends with a page of practical work, because fifteen chapters of interesting ideas with nothing to do with them helps nobody.

Yes, you'll need a pen. No, I won't make you create a vision board.

The fifteen chapters

  1. 1Confusion is not kind
  2. 2Your brand is a signal, not a performance
  3. 3Mirror, mask, crack

Gina Dunn, author of The Clarity Signal, holding her book

Hi, I'm Gina. And yes, I wrote this thing in secret.

I'm Gina Dunn, brand strategist for women founders and founder of OG Solutions. I've worked in marketing and brand building for more than 30 years, and these days I help women founders find the words, positioning and identity that reflect who they actually are.

And I've noticed something. The women I work with rarely lack expertise. What they lack is a clear way to say the point of view that makes all that expertise worth listening to. Then someone asks what makes them different, and suddenly they sound like everyone else.

It's a strange little problem, isn't it? It's also why I wrote this book.

I wrote it mostly at my kitchen table, between client work, family life and four Pomskies with zero respect for personal space. I didn't even tell my own family until it was nearly finished. And after moving the launch date four times (apparently I enjoy editing things forever), I published it on my birthday, October 12, 2026.

Pretty great birthday present to myself 🎂

The part I'm most excited about isn't my name on the cover. It's the idea that someone reads it and finally finds the words she's been trying to say.
